Willie Thrasher
Thrasher (b. 1948) is Inuvialuit musician from Aklavik, Northwest Territories of Canada. He was taken from his home as a child & raised in an Indian residential school where he was prohibited from speaking his Native language or practicing any of his Indigenous traditions.
He formed the Cordells, an Inuvialuit rock band in the 1960s & 70s with his brothers & friends. Thrasher's 1st LP "Spirit Child" was released in 1981. He now lives in Nanaimo in the British Columbia.
