Voices Together: A Benefit Singalong Concert
Annie Patterson & Peter Blood, the creators of Rise Up Singing and their 2015 sequel Rise Again are coming to Ottawa!
We are sharing this concert with Tony Turner - winner of the 2015 Spirit of Folk award for his timely "Harperman" hit. His popular anthem "Circle of Song" is included in Rise Again.
This concert will celebrate the life & work of Pete Seeger (next year will be the 100th anniversary of his birth) and the many terrific musicians who are working to build a better world through music. Pete played a crucial role in the creation of both songbooks. Copies of a wide array of Seeger CDs will be available for sale at the concert, along with copies of his autobiography, Where Have All the Flowers Gone: A Singalong Memoir (which Seeger asked Peter to edit).
We will be joined by guest artist Ian Robb, who also has a couple of songs in Rise Again. The chalice choir of FUCO will be joining us on a couple of songs.
We will be teaching and leading songs out of Rise Again during the concert. If you have a copy of Rise Again, bring it with you. Copies will be available to borrow or buy at the concert.
This is also an opportunity to acknowledge and support some of the many groups in the area working for peace and justice. The concert is a fund-raiser for Odawa Native Friendship Centre to support programming at Centre 510 – Shawenjeagamik and other services to Ottawa's Indigenous Community.
Advance tickets from Eventbrite. Admission at the door for a suggested donation of $25-40. Admission free to refugees, indigenous people, and under 18's. No one turned away for lack of funds.

A wide array of Seeger CDs will be for sale at the concert (from his 1941 "Talking Union" recording to his "More Perfect Union" CD issued 2 years before his death).
Annie & Peter are also offering a Rise Up Singing Workshop (limited to 25 participants) earlier in the day at Ottawa Friends Meeting.
